About
Walter Gatus has been in the animation industry for over a decade; working for various studios such as Warner Bros., Sony Animation, Cartoon Network, Marvel Animation and Hasbro Studios. He’s been drawing since he could hold a pencil; often getting in trouble for drawing in class, instead of paying attention to the lecture. At a very young age, he fell in love with comics and animation; rushing home from school to catch the latest episodes or running to his local comic shop for this weeks new comics. Shows like G-Force, Watchman, Robotech, Voltron and Transformers laid the groundwork for a love of the art form that would nurture his future career.
Over the years, he’s been fortunate enough to design some of his favorite characters for shows such as Spectacular Spider-Man, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Scooby Doo. He recently became the Character & Prop Design Supervisor for Transformers: Robots in Disguise, beginning with Season 2 and onward. It was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up and is savoring every moment. Taking his cues from his childhood, he has made it a point to infuse the G1 feel back into the Transformers RID show, which is evident in fan favorite characters like Jazz, Ratchet 2.0 and Starscream. Aside from Transformers, he developed the tone for the main characters on shows like NFL Rush Zone: Season of the Guardians and Hydro Attack for Rollman Entertainment and Mike Young Productions respectively. His clients outside of animation include work for video game, toy & comic companies, include Zynga, Activision, Spin-master, Hasbro & Darby Pop. Walter has started his own company, Jungle Boy Productions, where he takes his creative energy to develop his own personal Intellectual Properties, which includes the flagship property, Jungle Boy & Friends. He continues to explore possible outlets for this property through prints, apparel, mobile games and animation. As a subsidiary of JBP, he creates popular fan art through the Fan-Atiks line, which has grown to acquire its first officially licensed property, HBO’s Game of Thrones. The line consists of apparel, prints, canvas prints and wood etchings. |
